Creativity - Face painting

Activity: Face painting in the Welcome's BBQ
Type of Activity: Creativity
Number of Hours: 4

In the beginning of October, St. Dominic's always organizes a Welcome's BBQ so that new students and parents can meet teachers, and students and parents that have been in the school for longer. It is always lots of fun with games going on, football games being organized, and suitable activities for smaller children. A friend and I spent roughly 4 hours painting children's faces, from the Incredible Hulk to a princess to a pirate. It was great fun although a lot of patience was required. It was difficult to keep some children sitting still for a while, but they were all satisfied with the result, eventually.

I had done some face painting before, but this was the first time I did it to children I didn't know. At first I was concerned that the children would not like it, but that feeling faded when I saw the children smiling and laughing of happiness when they saw the result. I have a passion for children, which is probably due to the fact that I was brought up around children. I have three siblings, and my youngest brother was born when I was 9 years old. I have spent a big part of my life taking care of children and babysitting. I consider myself a patient and caring person when it comes to children, which was a useful ability when it came to this activity.
