Activity: Photographing Basketball Games
Type of Activity: Creativity
Number of Hours: 6
After photographing the Boys Varsity football games, I got very enthusiastic about the concept of photographing sport games because the challenge is to capture the right moment from the right angle, without the image being blurry, too dark, or too light. I enjoyed trying to figure out all the different buttons and functions on my camera, and discovered new things, although I had figured out most of the things during the football tournament.
The basketball games I photographed were games of Estoril Basket, a team that my brother plays in and after hearing positive feedback from him and his teammates, I decided to do it more often and have now photographed 4 of his basketball games. I was happy to do it, but it was more difficult than photographing the football tournament because you have to watch the game from the seats for the audience rather than from the sideline, and the lighting in a basketball court inside a gym is very different form the lighting outside. I enjoyed taking photos with natural sunlight more than taking photos inside the hall, because it was easier to obtain images of good quality without any blurs in them while I was outside. However, I saw it a challenge and with help of an external flash device, I managed to take somewhat qualitative pictures, that the team and myself were quite satisfied with.
